KSAN's Tom Donahue with a stack of albums... I see the Crazy World of Arthur Brown's LP there on the bottom, but I sure would love to flip through that pile he's holding! Progressive radio is going so strong at this point that the competing stations are slinging some mud and a few arrows at each other, some of the bitching in the trade papers is humorous: KOIT's Dick Starr is quoted as saying his station is more balanced than the other progressive undergrounders because he doesn't have "announcers getting on a blues trip or a Chinese bell trip." Oh, snap. By October, however, it does seem like tripped out psychedelia is starting to fade a bit and the blues are coming in stronger - so for this month's edition, I've gone a bit liberal with the blues-rock selections, sprinkling them in a bit heavier. It all seems to be pointing the direction to '69 and "rock music" coming into its own without the need for sub-classification.
