US Top 20 Singles: w/e July 23, 1988

Due to exposure in the massively popular Dirty Dancing movie, The Contours pulled off the rare feat of entering the top 20 again with the same song 26 years after its initial chart impact. "Do You Love Me" originally reached #3 on the pop charts in 1962 and came close to entering the top 10 again in 1988, entering the top 20 on this anniversary week at #17 and eventually hitting a peak of #11. The song was prominently featured in the movie, though it was not on the original 1987 Dirty Dancing soundtrack release. However, after the strong commercial success of that album, it was included on the followup "More Dirty Dancing" album.
